Saudi Arabian Designer Ashi Studio Makes History on Paris Haute Couture Calendar

Saudi Arabian designer Ashi Studio is set to make history as the first couturier from the Gulf to be listed on the prestigious Paris haute couture calendar. This is a significant milestone for Ashi Studio, as it marks the recognition of his talent and the inclusion of designers from the Gulf region in the global fashion industry.

Ashi Studio, known for his sensual silhouettes and impeccable craftsmanship, launched his label in Beirut in 2007 before moving his headquarters to Paris in 2017. His designs have been favored by A-list celebrities such as Deepika Padukone, Beyoncé, and Lady Gaga, further establishing his reputation in the fashion world.

The Federation de la Haute Couture et de la Mode has released the provisional calendar for the upcoming French haute couture season, and it includes a total of 32 houses staging physical shows. This is an unexpected departure from the purely digital format that became prevalent during the pandemic. Ashi Studio will join Thom Browne as the two newest additions to this season’s schedule.

In addition to Ashi Studio and Thom Browne, French couturier Charles de Vilmorin will also be a guest member this season. Furthermore, Paris-based houses Patou and Alaïa will be unveiling their women’s ready-to-wear collections on July 2. The season will feature renowned brands like Chanel, Christian Dior, Giorgio Armani Privé, Balenciaga, Elie Saab, Fendi, and Jean-Paul Gaultier.

All eyes will be on Ashi Studio as he presents his collection on Thursday morning, showcasing his creative vision and talent to a global audience. This recognition is particularly meaningful for the designer, as he reflects on the taboo surrounding Western fashion in Saudi Arabia during the 1980s. Now, he is welcomed back as a mentor for Saudi Arabia’s Fashion Commission, supporting and nurturing local talent.

The inclusion of Ashi Studio on the Paris haute couture calendar represents a step forward for the fashion industry in embracing diversity and showcasing talent from around the world. It highlights the growing recognition of designers from the Gulf region and signifies the advancements made in Saudi Arabia’s fashion scene.
