Salvatore Ferragamo Undergoes Significant Leadership Changes

Salvatore Ferragamo, the renowned Italian luxury label, is undergoing significant leadership changes as it gears up for the arrival of its new CEO, Marco Gobbetti, in January 2022. In preparation for Gobbetti’s appointment, the brand has been restructuring its organizational chart. The most recent reshuffle involves the appointment of two new CEOs for the North America and EMEA regions, reflecting the brand’s focus on strengthening its presence in the United States and other key markets.

The previous CEO of the North America region, Donald Kohler, left the company in April, creating a vacancy for this crucial position. Salvatore Ferragamo has chosen Daniella Vitale, an American executive with an impressive track record, to step into this role. Vitale started her career at Ferragamo after graduating from the Laboratory Institute of Merchandising and New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology. She then gained experience at Giorgio Armani’s American subsidiary and eventually became the CEO of Gucci in 2006. After a successful tenure as the CEO of New York-based department store chain Barneys, Vitale joined Tiffany & Co. as chief brand officer and executive vice president.

For the EMEA region, Vincenzo Equestre has been appointed as the new CEO, succeeding Corinne Ortega, who left the company in September. Equestre has a background in economics, having graduated from the University of Naples, and started his career at Unilever before joining L’Oréal. He has a wealth of experience within the luxury industry, with a significant portion of his career spent working for brands under French luxury conglomerate LVMH. Equestre has held general manager positions at Louis Vuitton and Christian Dior, as well as serving as international vice president for sales and distribution at jeweler Chaumet.

In addition to these leadership changes, Salvatore Ferragamo has welcomed French entrepreneur Frédéric Biousse, former co-CEO of SMCP, to its board of directors. Biousse’s expertise and insights will contribute to the brand’s strategic decision-making and growth plans. Furthermore, the brand has introduced its latest women’s ready-to-wear collection, designed by French talent Guillaume Meilland, who took over as creative director following the departure of Paul Andrew earlier this year.

These leadership changes and strategic appointments highlight Salvatore Ferragamo’s dedication to growth and innovation as it enters a new chapter under the leadership of CEO Marco Gobbetti.
