Saint Laurent Expands Presence in Culture and Art at Flagship Stores

Fashion powerhouse Saint Laurent is expanding its presence in culture and art at its flagship stores in France and the United States. The brand’s Rive Droite concept focuses on vintage fashion, and its stores in Paris and Los Angeles feature a range of vintage t-shirts and objects, complemented by the photographic works of Chinese artist Lin Zhipeng. Led by artistic director Anthony Vaccarello, Saint Laurent Rive Droite is at the forefront of the vintage trend, offering customers a curated selection of limited edition t-shirts and a collector’s line of books, vinyl records, and articles dating from the 1970s to 2000s.

One standout feature of the Rive Droite stores is the exhibition organized by Systems Studio, which showcases vintage Braun audio equipment, adding to the retro atmosphere. In addition to the vintage fashion and objects, the brand has collaborated with Beijing photographer Lin Zhipeng, who has unveiled an exhibition featuring his works in both the French and American stores. The exhibition, named No.223 after Lin Zhipeng’s pseudonym, draws inspiration from the police character in Wong Kar-Wai’s film “Chungking Express,” and explores themes of dreams, poetry, solitude, and mystery.

By incorporating Chinese cinematic culture and Lin Zhipeng’s visuals, Saint Laurent Rive Droite aims to capture the attention of millennials and GenZ consumers, who are drawn to the emotional connection and relatability of these artistic creations. This strategic move further solidifies Saint Laurent’s position as a leader in fashion and art, and it reflects the brand’s commitment to creating an immersive and unique shopping experience for its customers.

Looking ahead, Saint Laurent will be the subject of a highly anticipated exhibition at the Cité de la Dentelle et de la Mode de Calais in June 2023, showcasing the brand’s transparent couture wardrobe. This upcoming exhibition is expected to attract fashion enthusiasts and industry insiders alike, as they explore and appreciate the brand’s iconic designs and innovative approaches to fashion.
