Saint Germain des Prés brand collaborates with Morgane Ortin to reintroduce Sonia Rykiel handkerchiefs

The iconic Saint Germain des Prés brand has teamed up with author, editor, and influencer Morgane Ortin to reintroduce pieces designed by creator Sonia Rykiel. This exciting collaboration marks the beginning of an event, accompanied by a social media contest.

The reissue, titled “Les mouchoirs de l’amoureux.se” (The Handkerchiefs of the Lover), brings back the small handkerchiefs that Rykiel created nearly 20 years ago. The collection includes two embroidered squares housed in a luxurious velvet pouch, a favorite material of the brand.

Morgane Ortin, the founder of the popular Instagram account Amours Solitaires and a participant in this project, shared her inspiration behind the collaboration. “I have shed many tears this year and often thought about the black and white film I watched as a child, where the heroine always kept her fabric handkerchief in the inner pocket of her jacket,” she explained. “This summer, I began working with Sonia Rykiel and exploring its archives. I discovered with a shy smile that Sonia Rykiel herself had designed fabric handkerchiefs in the early 2000s. These handkerchiefs seemed perfect for shedding tears without the need to dispose of them afterward.” It is worth noting that the brand has been focusing on its environmental impact, as evidenced by its sustainable capsule collection introduced last spring.

This collaboration also signifies an opportunity to further the brand’s digital transformation, which was initiated after its acquisition by Eric and Michael Dayan in 2020, following the company’s liquidation. Recently purchased by American company G-III Apparel Group, which owns popular brands such as DKNY, Donna Karan, and various licenses including Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, and Karl Lagerfeld Paris, the brand is expected to accelerate its online strategy and reconnect with its community through innovative content on social media and in real life.

To celebrate the release of these exquisite handkerchiefs, the brand has invited Morgane Ortin, who is currently launching her book “Le Secret: Le bruit du silence,” to host a reading of love letters at the renowned Lutetia Hotel, a cherished venue of Sonia Rykiel on the Left Bank of Paris. This special event, taking place on November 24, will be accompanied by a social media contest where participants can enter for a chance to win two invitations.
