Safilo Group Announces Global Licensing Agreement with Stuart Weitzman

Safilo Group, a prominent player in the eyewear industry, has made a significant announcement regarding a new global licensing agreement with Stuart Weitzman, a luxury footwear brand headquartered in New York. According to this agreement, Safilo will take charge of the design, manufacturing, and distribution of Stuart Weitzman’s sunglasses and optical eyewear collections. The partnership is expected to last until June 2029, and the first collection is set to launch in North America during the fall/winter 2024 season.

Renowned for its creation of stylish, comfortable, and high-quality shoes that inspire confidence, Stuart Weitzman believes that eyewear, much like footwear, is an emotional and everyday accessory. Giorgio Sarné, the brand’s CEO and brand president, aims to infuse their signature values into the eyewear collection, ensuring that consumers can look and feel their best.

This partnership serves as an extension of Safilo’s existing collaboration with Tapestry, Inc., the parent company of Stuart Weitzman. Safilo currently holds the licensing rights for another Tapestry brand, Kate Spade. Angelo Trocchia, the CEO of Safilo Group, expresses his pride in initiating this new partnership with Stuart Weitzman, an iconic brand that specializes in women’s luxury footwear. He believes that Stuart Weitzman’s entrance into the eyewear market will introduce a uniquely designed collection that will enhance their portfolio in the women’s luxury eyewear segment.

Established in 1986, Stuart Weitzman combines artisan Spanish craftsmanship with contemporary style, resulting in globally recognized luxury footwear. On the other hand, Safilo Group, founded in Italy’s Veneto region in 1934, is a major player in the eyewear industry, focusing on the design, manufacturing, and distribution of prescription frames, sunglasses, outdoor eyewear, goggles, and helmets. In June, they signed a 10-year licensing agreement with the fashion label Etro, further expanding their already diverse portfolio.

All in all, the partnership between Stuart Weitzman and Safilo Group signifies an exciting development within the luxury fashion world. This collaboration will enable Stuart Weitzman to enter the eyewear market, bringing their unique style and craftsmanship to a new accessory category. Consumers can anticipate a beautifully designed collection that effortlessly combines fashion and functionality, reflecting Stuart Weitzman’s commitment to quality and empowering individuals to look and feel their best.
