Roberto Cavalli Opens Flagship Store on Tmall Luxury Pavilion

Roberto Cavalli, the renowned Italian fashion and luxury label, has achieved yet another significant milestone in its online presence in China. The brand has recently opened its official flagship store on Tmall Luxury Pavilion, further solidifying its position in the Chinese market. This collaboration is made possible through a partnership with Triboo China, the Chinese subsidiary of Italian digital transformation specialist Triboo SpA.

The flagship store on Tmall Luxury Pavilion offers a wide range of products, including menswear, womenswear, leather goods, accessories, and even furniture. Roberto Cavalli’s brand is known for its contemporary and glamorous aesthetic that embodies Italian craftsmanship and Mediterranean roots. The store aims to provide Chinese customers with a multi-dimensional shopping experience.

Roberto Cavalli, under the creative direction of Fausto Puglisi, is owned by Damac Properties, a Dubai-based company. The acquisition of Roberto Cavalli by Damac Properties was facilitated by Emirates billionaire Hussain Sajwani, who came to the brand’s rescue in 2019 through his private equity firm Vision Investments.

The journey of Roberto Cavalli in the fashion industry began in Florence, where he followed his family’s tailoring tradition. Although Cavalli initially pursued painting like his grandfather, his passion for textile design paved the way for his foray into the world of fashion. He started his career by painting flowers onto knitwear and later patented a groundbreaking method for creating inlaid leather. Cavalli showcased this innovation at a runway show in Paris in 1970. Over the years, Cavalli continued to create unique motifs inspired by nature, which he applied to a variety of materials such as silk, leather, and denim.

Since its launch in 2017, Tmall Luxury Pavilion, which is owned by the Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba, has attracted an impressive lineup of over 200 leading international luxury and premium brands. These brands offer a diverse range of products, including fashion, cosmetics, jewelry, watches, and even cars. One of the key advantages of the platform is that it allows brands to have customizable web pages that align with their corporate identity. Additionally, it provides access to valuable customer data in the Chinese market.

It’s worth noting that Tmall Luxury Pavilion is now part of Taobao Tmall Commerce Group, one of the entities resulting from the recent reorganization of the Alibaba Group. This reorganization, the largest in the group’s 24-year history, focuses on creating various entities specializing in e-commerce, cloud computing, and other sectors. However, Taobao Tmall Commerce Group will continue to operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Alibaba Group, exclusively conducting its commercial activities within China.

The launch of Roberto Cavalli’s flagship store on Tmall Luxury Pavilion showcases the brand’s commitment to expanding its online presence in China. Through its partnership with Triboo China and its association with this prestigious platform, Roberto Cavalli aims to reach a wider customer base and provide Chinese consumers with a seamless and luxurious shopping experience. This move is in line with the growing trend of luxury brands embracing e-commerce and capitalizing on the immense potential of online retail in China.
