British fashion retailer Rixo is preparing for changes in the upcoming year, including the elimination of discounts on older stock and the opening of a new store in London. Effective February 1st, Rixo will remove the ‘archive’ button from its website, thereby discontinuing the ability for customers to search for discounted items. Co-founders Henrietta Rix and Orlagh McCloskey believe that this decision will contribute to a more sustainable platform for shopping. They argue that the emphasis on discounted prices often leads to impulsive purchases, rather than intentional and thoughtful buying. This strategic move may also result in a boost in Rixo’s profits, as the company reported an impressive £3.5 million in profits and £10.3 million in sales in the 12 months leading up to June 2021.
In addition to this shift in their online retail strategy, Rixo has exciting plans to expand their physical presence with the launch of a flagship store on King’s Road in Chelsea. Set to open in April, this 5,000 square foot store will showcase a diverse range of Rixo designs, including their bridal collection and accessories. To further enhance the customer experience, the store will also include a coffee shop, allowing visitors to fully immerse themselves in the Rixo brand. Orlagh McCloskey expressed her enthusiasm for this significant investment, which aims to further solidify Rixo’s position in the industry.
Since its establishment in 2015, Rixo has rapidly gained popularity, known for its vibrant and vintage-inspired designs. The brand has cultivated a devoted following and has been notably embraced by numerous celebrities and influencers. With these exciting developments, Rixo is determined to build on its success by adopting a more sustainable approach to retail and expanding its physical presence in the bustling city of London.
