Renzo Rosso’s Optimistic Outlook for Diesel and OTB Group

Renzo Rosso, the founder and chairman of OTB group, recently expressed his optimistic outlook for the future of Diesel at Milan Fashion Week. While OTB’s luxury segment, which includes renowned brands like Maison Margiela, Jil Sander, and Marni, has been thriving, Rosso emphasized that Diesel will not be transforming into a luxury label. Instead, he envisions Diesel as a contemporary and stylish alternative to high-end fashion.

During his speech, Rosso praised the dedicated team behind Diesel’s garments, underscoring their exceptional creative skills, craftsmanship, and unique treatments employed in each clothing piece. This attention to detail sets Diesel apart and contributes to its distinctive appeal.

In addition to Diesel, Rosso also expressed his interest in expanding the OTB group’s portfolio by acquiring other forward-thinking and daring brands with distinctive identities. However, he remained tight-lipped about specific details regarding his ongoing projects.

At Diesel’s Fall/Winter 2023-24 show, creative director Glenn Martens joined forces with Durex to promote safe sex. The notable collaboration featured a t-shirt where the iconic ‘D’ in Durex was ingeniously swapped with the ‘D’ from the Diesel logo. This groundbreaking partnership resulted in a unique capsule collection that will be available for purchase in April 2023. It marks an unprecedented collaboration between Durex and a fashion label, showcasing the intersection of fashion and social awareness.

The year 2022 saw remarkable growth for the OTB group, recording a revenue of €1.743 billion. This notable 14% increase was primarily attributed to the outstanding performances of its luxury brands. The sustained success of these brands highlights OTB’s strong position in the fashion industry and its ability to adapt and thrive in a constantly evolving market.
