Renowned fashion designer Gabriela Hearst has unveiled her first West Coast store in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles. The store draws inspiration from Hearst’s upbringing on her family ranch in Uruguay and is conveniently located at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel, a prime spot for fashion enthusiasts.
The design of the store was a collaboration between Gabriela Hearst and architecture firm Foster + Partners, led by Norman Foster. This is the second store the firm has designed for Hearst, with the first being the flagship store in London. To create a unique atmosphere, the store features a vaulted ceiling constructed using traditional materials and craftsmanship, including eco-friendly Roman Clay plaster. This attention to detail aligns with Hearst’s commitment to sustainability and artisanal practices.
Hearst also enlisted the help of designer-makers Benji Gavron and Antoine Dumas from Gavron Dumas Studio to create custom furniture for the store. The furniture and fixtures were crafted from sustainably-sourced Western Sycamore trees that were originally destined to become wood chips. Local sawyers worked with Gavron Dumas Studio to mill the trees into special timber, which was then transformed into furniture by artisans at Dusk, a renowned Los Angeles-based furniture studio.
The store exhibits an exceptional level of craftsmanship and attention to detail. From rose gold aluminum door handles to bespoke rugs and wall hangings by artist Eli Tamarkin, every element of the store contributes to a cohesive and inviting ambiance that reflects the brand’s vision.
In terms of products, the flagship store offers a wide range of options for both men and women. Customers can explore Gabriela Hearst’s complete collections, including ready-to-wear clothing, fine merino wool and cashmere knitwear, footwear, accessories, and handbags. Notably, the store is the exclusive retailer for Gabriela Hearst handbag collections on the West Coast, featuring popular designs such as the Nina, the Demi, the Diana, and the Baez.
This store marks the third location for Gabriela Hearst’s eponymous label, with the first store opening on Madison Avenue in New York in 2018 and the second in London on Brook Street in 2019. The West Coast store not only showcases Hearst’s commitment to quality and sustainability but also highlights her timeless sense of style.
