Rebelle, the popular secondhand luxury fashion platform, is set to merge with its parent company, Vinted. The decision to close Rebelle and integrate it into Vinted’s platform comes 18 months after Vinted acquired the business. Starting on February 19, the Rebelle platform will gradually close, with the final closure taking place on March 18, 2024. Account holders will receive invitations to transfer their account information to Vinted.
It is worth mentioning that, unfortunately, Concierge items will not be transferrable to Vinted. However, arrangements are being made to return these items to their respective sellers. Cécile Wickmann, the founder of Rebelle, sees this closure as a fresh start and will now serve as the Senior Director of Luxury at Vinted. This indicates that Vinted is aiming to make a stronger entry into the upscale market through its platform.
Although Rebelle has a more high-end profile compared to Vinted’s focus on affordable fashion, Vinted had already incorporated Rebelle’s verification process last year. This service ensures the authenticity of a wide range of designer and streetwear labels. Consequently, this merger will result in Vinted offering a broader selection of items at different price points, aligning with the trend seen among other resale sites.
In summary, the merge between Rebelle and Vinted demonstrates Vinted’s strategic move to expand its offerings and cater to a wider range of customers in the luxury fashion market. As the closure of Rebelle approaches, account holders will have the opportunity to seamlessly transition their information to Vinted and continue their secondhand shopping journey on the platform.
