Re-SEE Raises Funding to Boost Growth in Luxury Vintage Fashion Industry

Re-SEE, a specialized French website that focuses on selling second-hand luxury fashion, has announced a successful fundraising round to boost its growth in the industry. Founded in 2013 by Sabrina Marshall and Sofia Bernardin, who both have prior experience working for magazines Vogue and Self-Service, Re-SEE has attracted investments from three industry experts: Shari Glazer, CEO of Kalos Lab and a web3 sector entrepreneur; Michael Dayan, former shareholder of Showroomprivé and successful relauncher of Sonia Rykiel; and Darren Star, renowned producer and director known for popular series like Sex and the City and Emily in Paris. The funding round is estimated to be around 3 million euros.

Positioning itself as a leading platform for certified luxury vintage fashion, Re-SEE aims to expand its international presence, strengthen its sourcing capabilities, and adopt new technologies to streamline its operations. The website focuses on offering highly sought-after luxury items such as Hermès handbags and runway pieces from renowned designers like Karl Lagerfeld and Phoebe Philo. The company has seen remarkable growth, with its revenue increasing by 120% annually. Re-SEE has set an ambitious goal of achieving a turnover of 25 million euros within the next two years. According to the company, the average basket size of its customers is 1,161 euros, which is three to five times higher than its competitors.

Besides the funding, Re-SEE plans to leverage the expertise of its new investors. Shari Glazer will contribute her knowledge of NFT and blockchain technology, Michael Dayan will provide insights into e-commerce and logistics, and Darren Star will help promote vintage fashion to the general public by leveraging the connection between entertainment and fashion.

Re-SEE has already established partnerships with prestigious brands like Alaïa and Celine. The company has also organized a pop-up store during Paris Fashion Week and will open a temporary boutique at New York’s Carlyle Hotel in December to increase its visibility in the United States, its largest market. Additionally, Re-SEE plans to launch a series of videos featuring celebrities like Catherine Deneuve, Vanessa Seward, and Gaia Repossi selling their pieces on the platform. These videos will be hosted by influencer Leandra Medine Cohen.

The second-hand sector has recently seen a surge in funding, with companies like Faume, Beebs, and Imparfaite successfully securing millions of euros in investments. Re-SEE’s latest funding round positions it well for future growth and expansion in the luxury vintage fashion market.
