Queen Consort Visits New JCA Jimmy Choo Academy Campus

Professor Jimmy Choo and co-founder Stephen Smith of JCA/London Fashion Academy are receiving recognition for their groundbreaking approach to fashion education. Their latest accomplishment includes a visit from none other than the esteemed Queen Consort herself. During her visit, the Queen Consort explored the newly renovated Boston Manor House in Brentford, west London, where the JCA/London Fashion Academy is now housed.

The refurbishment of the house includes a learning center for children and young adults, along with the JCA/London Fashion Academy’s new campus. One notable addition to the house is the transformation of the service wing into an artisanal “Maker Space.” This creative area is designed to nurture the skills of undergraduate learners and local craftspeople in the fashion industry, offering them a platform to enhance their talents and develop their businesses within the realm of fashion.

The presence of the Queen Consort signifies a major achievement for JCA, as it brings attention and recognition to their academies and the accomplishments made in partnership with them. Professor Choo expressed his appreciation, stating, “We are truly honored to have had Her Majesty the Queen Consort visit our new campus and witness the incredible work that takes place here. We take great pride in being a part of the transformation that this building and the surrounding area will experience.”

While the first JCA campus in London’s Mayfair neighborhood, which opened in 2021, focuses on design entrepreneurship, the newly launched second campus shifts its focus to artisan crafts, design, and accessory making. This expansion allows the academy to discover and nurture a fresh wave of creative talent. Additionally, the academy aims to have a long-term positive socio-economic impact on the local community of Brentford and West London, infusing the area with flair and creativity.

During her visit, the Queen Consort engaged with children from a local school participating in a shoe-designing workshop. She also had the opportunity to tour the workspaces, meet undergraduate and postgraduate students, and interact with local artisans involved in sewing, cutting, and designing garments.

The ongoing success and recognition bestowed upon JCA/London Fashion Academy, including visits from influential figures like the Queen Consort, exemplify their essential role in shaping the future of fashion education. With their steadfast commitment to nurturing creativity and skill development, JCA is making a significant impact on both the local community and the broader fashion industry.
