Following the unfortunate passing of its founder Khalid Al Qasimi in July, the London-based fashion brand Qasimi has announced a significant shift in leadership. Khalid’s twin sister, Hoor Al Qasimi, has been appointed as the new creative director of the label, ensuring that the brand remains in the hands of the family and honoring the legacy of its late founder.
Hoor Al Qasimi, who shares her brother’s educational background in the UK, brings a unique perspective to her new role with her art background. Having been trained at the renowned Slade School of Fine Art, she not only has experience as a practicing artist but also as a curator. Hoor is renowned for her role as the president and founding director of the Sharjah Art Foundation and the Sharjah Biennial, a highly esteemed contemporary art exhibition based in the UAE. Additionally, she serves on the boards of various influential museums, such as MoMA PS1 in New York.
With Hoor Al Qasimi now leading the charge, Qasimi’s design team, under the direction of Adam Rice, will continue to craft collections that embody Khalid’s signature urban aesthetic, featuring elements of architecture, rich colors, and military-inspired details. The upcoming Spring Summer 2021 collection, scheduled to debut in June 2021, will mark Hoor’s inaugural line for the brand. Fans of Qasimi can expect a seamless continuation of Khalid’s creative vision, ensuring that his impactful legacy endures through the brand’s future endeavors.
