Pucci’s ‘La Piazzetta’ Collection by Camille Miceli

Pucci’s second collection, ‘La Piazzetta’ by designer Camille Miceli, was recently unveiled, showcasing a vibrant and funky blend of the brand’s signature style. Miceli drew inspiration from Pucci’s renowned archive, adding a touch of nostalgia to the collection without it feeling cliché. The collection experimented with proportions, offering a bold mix of styles. Notably, it expanded Pucci beyond its traditional resort wear roots. The show featured unique pieces like Mongolian shearling boots, black swirling parkas adorned with Tibetan prayer necklaces, and loose-weave or cable sweaters paired with Masai-like neck rings in eye-catching acid hues. These elements combined to create a collection that exudes California cool, with a touch of Italian flair.

Explaining her inspiration, Miceli stated, “‘La Piazzetta’ refers to the small squares that are central to life in Italian villages. These squares are filled with charm and warmth, shaded by beautiful trees, where colorful and joyful tablecloths from trattorias dance in the wind, embodying La Dolce Vita.” This sentiment served as the cornerstone for her collection.

Earlier this year, Miceli introduced her initial ideas for Pucci through a series of intimate events in Capri. This second collection is anything but ordinary, designed for a bold and confident woman. Pucci has always been a brand that embraces uniqueness, and Miceli carries on that tradition in her designs. The collection offers a comprehensive wardrobe, featuring long double-breasted blazers with vibrant piping, silk cocktail dresses in Marmo prints, sophisticated tuxedos, and retro-print trimmed pencil pants. The standout piece from the collection is the mega ruffled disco pants, paying homage to Raffaella Carrà, an Italian singer and LGBTQ+ icon. Crafted from elastic Lycra, these pants add a touch of activewear to the collection. The majority of the collection is made from practical and easy-to-transport fabrics like Lycra, knit, and sheathing fabrics. Additionally, raffia fringes on hoods and capes contribute to the festive atmosphere of the collection.

The footwear selection is equally impressive, featuring platform sandals adorned with prints, slinky boots in multi-color leopard silk prints, and conical pumps finished with printed back ties. Miceli’s command over the LVMH-owned house is evident in the collection’s smart and savvy fashion statement.

In conclusion, Pucci’s ‘La Piazzetta’ collection by Camille Miceli beautifully captures the essence of Italian village life while infusing a fresh and funky twist into the brand’s iconic style. Miceli’s innovative designs and bold choices solidify her as a formidable force in the fashion industry.
