Programs Launch to Empower BIPOC Professionals in Fashion and Corporate Industries

During Black History Month in New York, two programs are launching to empower BIPOC professionals in the fashion and corporate industries. These initiatives recognize the need for diversity and representation in these fields and are committed to creating a more inclusive and equitable future.

RaiseFashion, a non-profit volunteer advisory network, is launching the Brand Fellowship Program. This program aims to advance the equity of BIPOC talent by providing mentorship, resources, and access. The fellowship will offer eight weeks of masterclasses led by fashion industry experts from renowned brands such as Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, TikTok, and Saks Fifth Avenue. The masterclasses will provide participants with insight and strategies on building successful brands with optimal growth potential. Topics covered will include effective business practices, marketing, and revenue growth.

In addition to the masterclasses, the fellowship will award eight BIPOC-owned brands with a $15,000 grant each. Additionally, two brands will have the opportunity to receive an additional $15,000 based on a pitch session. This financial support aims to help these brands overcome barriers and succeed in the industry. Applications for the fellowship can be submitted through the RaiseFashion website from February 23 to March 8.

Alongside RaiseFashion, Kering Americas is partnering with Black in Corporate (BIC) to launch a program aimed at championing Black professionals in corporate America. BIC, founded by social media consultant Candace Marie Stewart, provides resources and support for Black professionals navigating corporate environments.

The program will offer a three-month-long mentorship program, addressing crucial issues such as pay equity, mental and physical health, business mentorship, and community building. Mentors will be paired with participants to provide them with resources, opportunities, and collaboration to help them thrive in the workplace.

Kering Americas sees this program as an opportunity to prioritize diversity, equity, and inclusion within their organization and provide BIPOC talent with opportunities to succeed. Applications for the program can be submitted from February 21 to March 9, with mentorship beginning on April 7.

By supporting and uplifting BIPOC talent, both the RaiseFashion Brand Fellowship Program and the Black in Corporate program are making strides towards a more diverse and inclusive fashion and corporate world. These initiatives understand the importance of diversity and representation and are committed to providing tools and support for BIPOC professionals to succeed in their respective industries.
