Printemps Launches Innovative Program for Eco-Responsibility

Since September 2nd, the renowned department stores, Printemps, have launched an innovative program that focuses on eco-responsibility. The program aims to showcase brands and products with a strong commitment to sustainability. Under the theme “Beauty meets Goodness,” Printemps has emphasized circularity during the back-to-school season. To demonstrate their dedication to ethical fashion and environmental sustainability, the company introduced the “United for Responsible Beauty” label at the beginning of the month.

To inform customers about their responsible approach, Printemps has collaborated with a committee of experts. Together, they have defined nine themes and 22 criteria to measure a brand’s sustainable performance. These criteria range from sourcing practices to the promotion of an inclusive economy. Based on this scoring system, brands that achieve a minimum score of 30 out of 100 are eligible to integrate the “United for Responsible Beauty” label.

As part of its digital transition, Printemps has created a dedicated tab on its website that showcases responsible brands. Currently, this tab features over 2,200 products. More than 400 brands have already been awarded the “United for Responsible Beauty” label. In an effort to further promote sustainable practices, Printemps has invited the prestigious haute couture house, Chloé, known for its eco-responsible virtues. Chloé, under its Artistic Director Gabriela Hearst, will have its own space in the atrium of the Paris-Haussmann store. Here, they will organize public workshops focusing on repairing worn-out clothes, the Japanese art of Kintsugi, and upcycling ideas. This initiative will be extended to all Printemps stores, which will also offer similar workshops and conferences.

Printemps has also formed a partnership with Emmaüs, a symbol of circularity and solidarity. Until October 31, 2021, customers can find collection boxes for clothing donations in several Printemps stores in the Ile-de-France region, including Printemps Haussmann, Printemps Italie II, Printemps Nation, Printemps Vélizy 2, and Printemps Parly 2.

In addition to these commitments, Printemps offers customers the opportunity to make micro-donations at the cash register. These donations are intended for the GoodPlanet foundation, founded by renowned environmentalist Yann Arthus-Bertrand.
