Printemps Group Collaborates with French Fashion Institute to Support Young Fashion Entrepreneurs

Printemps Group, a leading French department store group, has joined forces with the French Fashion Institute (IFM) in an effort to support young fashion entrepreneurs in France. The objective of this collaborative initiative is to establish new scholarship programs that will enhance the fashion industry’s knowledge and entrepreneurial skills within the country.

To promote equal access to job opportunities in the fashion sector, Printemps and IFM will be awarding exclusive scholarships for the academic year 2023-24. These scholarships will be granted based on financial need and merit, covering tuition fees for a select group of twelve students enrolled in IFM’s professional training course in fashion.

IFM’s course concentrates on training students for various professions in the fashion field, such as fashion designer, machinist-fitter, and model-maker. By incorporating a work-study program, students are able to develop their textile work and tailoring skills, while also gaining specialized knowledge in the realms of haute couture and luxury ready-to-wear sectors.

Xavier Romatet, CEO of IFM, has expressed his commitment to inclusivity, affirming, “We are dedicated to offering our educational courses to all young fashion talents, regardless of their financial circumstances.” He also conveyed his gratitude for the support provided by Printemps Group, believing it will bolster vocational training and promote expertise within the French fashion industry.

Jean-Baptiste Dacquin, Chief Human Resources Officer at Printemps Group, highlighted the significance of investing in emerging talent, as it plays a pivotal role in shaping the future fashion landscape.

Additionally, for the forthcoming academic year, Printemps and IFM will be bestowing one-time grants to offer support to entrepreneurs within the creative industries. The selected brands including Mama Série Originale, Ako, Askiita, Noué, and The Wedding Explorer, will receive comprehensive financial backing as part of the IFM incubator program. Normally priced at €5,400 per year, this program encompasses collective workshops, one-on-one mentoring sessions, and guidance on aspects such as brand image, storytelling, collection development, materials sourcing, and retail strategies.

The partnership between Printemps and IFM serves as a testament to their dedication to nurturing and supporting emerging fashion designers and entrepreneurs in France. Through the provision of scholarships and grants, they aim to ensure that financial limitations do not impede the growth and success of talented individuals in the fashion industry. Undoubtedly, this collaboration will contribute significantly to shaping the fashion landscape not only in France but also beyond.
