Prada’s Major Reorganization: New CEO and Chief Executive Officer

Italian luxury brand Prada is undergoing a major reorganization with the appointment of Andrea Guerra as the new CEO and the addition of Gianfranco D’Attis as the chief executive officer of Prada. This move marks a significant shift in leadership, as the brand’s co-CEOs, Miuccia Prada and Patrizio Bertelli, prepare for their succession.

D’Attis, who has a strong background in the luxury retail sector, will officially assume his position on January 2nd. Prada highlights his international profile and successful track record in the industry, making him well-suited to drive the strategic development of the Prada brand in global markets. This appointment is particularly noteworthy as Prada accounts for over 80% of the company’s total retail sales.

D’Attis brings an impressive wealth of experience to Prada. He holds degrees from GSBA Zurich and Columbia Business School in New York. He began his career with the Swiss luxury group Richemont, where he worked at IWC Schaffhausen as brand director for the Middle East, India, and Turkey. He later held leadership positions as head of the United States and Canada for eleven years.

In 2014, D’Attis joined Chloé, another brand under the Richemont group, as international director. During his time at Chloé, he played a key role in driving the brand’s strategic development and global commercial growth. After four years, he transitioned to Jaeger-LeCoultre, another Richemont brand, as international director. However, his tenure with the company was brief before he moved on to Christian Dior Couture.

D’Attis’ appointment at Prada comes at a significant time as the brand undergoes a generational transition. Miuccia Prada and Patrizio Bertelli plan to pass the baton to their eldest son, Lorenzo Bertelli, who is currently the group’s marketing director and joined the Prada Group’s board of directors last year. In this new phase, Andrea Guerra will take on the role of CEO, supported by D’Attis as the director of the Prada label. Miuccia Prada will remain creative director for both the Miu Miu and Prada lines, working alongside Raf Simons. Patrizio Bertelli will serve as the company’s president.

The strategic appointment of D’Attis aims to strengthen the management team and provide stability during this period of transition. Prada is taking proactive steps to ensure a smooth handover and maintain its position as a leading luxury brand. By leveraging D’Attis’ expertise and international experience, Prada aims to further enhance its presence in the global luxury market.
