Prada recently unveiled its highly-anticipated latest Linea Rossa collection, marking the second release since its relaunch the previous year. This new line puts an emphasis on sleek engineering, combining urban and active sportswear with a touch of sophistication.
In a fresh and innovative approach, Prada introduced its latest designs on a global scale through unique presentations held in boutiques and various locations across multiple countries. The collection, also known as the Red Line in multiple languages, aims to merge urban chic with a cutting-edge and comfortable aesthetic.
At the Paris presentation, Prada showcased a stunning array of around 40 looks on mannequins at its flagship location on Faubourg Saint-Honoré. Over in London, the brand collaborated with Willow Smith, who delivered a spontaneous live performance at an underground station on the Central Line, perfectly embodying the spirit of Linea Rossa.
The Fall/Winter 2019 Linea Rossa collection draws inspiration from a strong military theme, featuring pieces in khaki and battleship grey such as officer’s raingear, parkas, and hooded trenches adorned with the iconic white on red logo strip. Additionally, primary color ski pants and ski-boarder jackets cater to both urban and rural activities. The collection also boasts tough yet stylish black pieces, including mini hooded bolero puffers in black nylon paired with graphic anthracite leggings and chunky mountaineer sneakers.
Prada has expertly crafted these garments using cutting-edge fabrics like graphene and recycled polyester padding, as well as conductive and reactive fabrics such as Tela Tecnica Pro. Seamless knits with a pH-balanced, hypoallergenic effect have also been utilized to reduce moisture and minimize odors, ensuring practicality while maintaining a high level of style.
Following a decade-long hiatus, Prada reintroduced the Linea Rossa collection last year, elevating its technical elements and positioning it at a more upscale price point. The concept was originally unveiled by Miuccia Prada at her signature Prada runway show in Milan in 2018. It is important to distinguish Linea Rossa from Luna Rossa, the Prada-sponsored sailing yacht currently participating in the America’s Cup.
