Prada and Adidas Unveil Joint NFT Initiative

Prada and Adidas have unveiled their latest collaboration, this time in the form of a joint NFT initiative. The partnership, which already introduced a collection featuring recycled nylon, will now venture into the Web3 space with a project in collaboration with Polygon Studios, set to launch on January 24.

As part of this initiative, Prada and Adidas are inviting their audience to participate in the creation of an artwork. Those with a digital wallet can submit a visual inspired by the Re-Nylon collection and join a waiting list. From these submissions, 3,000 participants will be randomly selected. These lucky individuals will then have the opportunity to convert their creation into an NFT on the dedicated website, free of charge, on January 26 and 27. Notably, all 3,000 images will be combined into a single NFT, optimized by renowned digital artist Zach Lieberman.

The collaborative NFT artwork will subsequently be auctioned on the SuperRare platform from January 28 to 31. In a display of their commitment to social responsibility, Prada and Adidas plan to donate 80% of the proceeds to the educational organization Slow Factory, with 5% going to Zach Lieberman. The remaining 15% will be distributed among the participants. Importantly, each contributor will retain full ownership rights to their individual NFT artwork, providing them with the option to keep or sell it. In the case of a resale, 2.5% of the amount will automatically be donated to Slow Factory.

Adidas views this collaboration and the shared ownership facilitated by Web3 technology as a pivotal step towards creator rights within the crypto art movement. With the launch of their first collection of NFTs, called “Into The Metaverse,” in late 2021, Adidas is also offering privileged access to the Prada collaboration, reserving 1,000 spots for owners of these NFTs.
