Porsche Partners with Pixar Animation Studios to Commemorate 20th Anniversary of Sally from Cars

Porsche, the renowned luxury automobile brand, has embarked on a new venture within the realm of entertainment, collaborating with Pixar Animation Studios to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Sally, a well-loved car character from the Cars animated film series. This intriguing partnership is indicative of the growing trend of the luxury industry merging with popular culture, all in the name of charitable initiatives. While BMW joined forces with Marvel last year, Porsche has opted to team up with Pixar Animation Studios, renowned for their production of iconic films. Together, they have unveiled their latest project, which involves the creation of a Porsche 911 inspired by the beloved character Sally – a celebration of her two decades of existence in the Cars film series.

Director of Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur Vehicles at Porsche AG, Boris Apenbrink, expressed his excitement about the collaboration, describing it as a groundbreaking venture that perfectly aligns with the brand’s Manufaktur Sonderwunsch program, which allows customers to customize their dream cars. The unique model that Porsche and Pixar have crafted captures the essence of Sally, while also adding a touch of individuality. This car is currently being manufactured at Porsche’s Zuffenhausen plant and is not intended for display in a museum but rather for actual road use. Furthermore, the vehicle will be accompanied by a one-of-a-kind timepiece, further emphasizing the attention to detail and exclusivity that Porsche is known for.

This collaboration serves a purpose greater than simply showcasing Porsche’s innovative techniques and creative prowess. The choice to feature Sally as the inspiration for this project was deliberate, aiming to leverage her empathetic personality and design characteristics to make a positive impact. With this in mind, Porsche and Pixar have decided to auction off the remarkable creation at Sotheby’s, with all proceeds going towards supporting charitable endeavors. The funds raised will benefit NGOs such as Girls Inc., focusing on educational programs for young girls in the United States, as well as aid for refugee families escaping Ukraine, with a particular focus on women and children.

This charitable project comes at a time when Porsche has been facing production challenges due to disruptions in the supply chain caused by the ongoing conflict. The brand temporarily halted its activities in Russia and has donated one million euros to provide urgent assistance to those affected by the Russo-Ukrainian conflict. By engaging in this collaboration with Pixar for a philanthropic cause, Porsche further demonstrates its commitment to making a positive impact in the world beyond the realm of luxury cars.
