Pitti to Hold Physical Trade Show in February Despite Setbacks

In a recent announcement, Raffaello Napoleone, CEO of Pitti, revealed the organization’s plans to press on with their physical trade show in February. Despite facing setbacks this year due to the pandemic, Pitti is gearing up for an event that is expected to host around 300 brands. This determination follows the cancellation of all live trade shows after the January Uomo edition earlier this year.

After successfully transitioning to digital editions, including the introduction of Pitti Connect in July, Pitti is now looking towards a joint physical trade show in February. Scheduled from February 21 to 23, the event will feature Uomo, Bimbo, and Filati divisions. The decision to proceed with the physical event is a testament to Pitti’s commitment to supporting brands and providing them with a platform for exposure and interaction with buyers and retailers.

The upcoming event will be held exclusively within Fortezza da Basso, a change from the usual scattered locations around the city. In light of the current regulations in Italy, which prohibit live events until January 15, Pitti has assured exhibitors of a refund if the restrictions are extended. Despite uncertainties surrounding visitor numbers, Napoleone emphasized the necessity of physical interactions in the fashion industry for small and medium-sized brands to expand their reach and connect with customers.

While digital platforms have shown potential, Napoleone remains hopeful for a full physical edition of Pitti Uomo in June, which will mark its 100th edition. As the fashion industry continues to navigate challenges, Pitti’s unwavering determination to move forward signals a beacon of hope for brands and retailers alike.
