Peter Do’s Stunning Collection at Palais de Tokyo

Peter Do’s morning show at the prestigious Palais de Tokyo has sent shockwaves through the fashion industry. The collection was a poetic and stunning display of Do’s ability to flawlessly blend different fabrics together, rather than creating contrasting looks. One standout example was the series of black and white dresses and cocktails, where the black calf skin seamlessly merged with the ecru silk.

Do’s skill as a tailor was evident throughout the collection, with avant-garde yet wearable designs. He expertly cut micro spencers and mess jackets, pairing them with flared pleated pants to accentuate their brilliance with satin waistlines. The show opened with an impressive ecru canvas redingote, adorned with black leather lapels and cuffs, perfectly complemented by a pair of pleated leather pants. Do completed each look with his own ergonomic silver jewelry and a range of footwear options, including metal spike heel slingbacks and retro-futurist boots.

In an exciting collaboration, Do also teamed up with Banana Republic to offer ten looks in the collection. This partnership allows international consumers to access pieces from a high-fashion runway show in Paris without breaking the bank. Standout pieces from this collaboration include a military shirt split vertically into suede and leather, as well as a desert-hued trench coat with a detachable hood.

This incredible showcase by Peter Do comes as a response to the lukewarm reception he received for his debut at Helmut Lang in New York just two weeks prior. With an incredible soundtrack by Wladimir Schall and excellent casting by Anita Bitton for Establishment New York, Do effortlessly summoned a cool tribe for his fashion show. The addition of smeared orange makeup by Daniel Sallstrom for Shiseido added a touch of perversion, perfectly capturing the confidence and elegance of Do’s collection.

The program notes from the designer exemplify his focus on the work itself, stating, “This season, we want our work to speak for itself. Love, the Peter Do Team.” And indeed, his collection spoke volumes. As Do took his bow wearing a black face mask, it was evident that his collection had made a powerful statement.
