Patrick Demarchelier and Victor Demarchelier Collaborate on ‘Héritage’ Photographic Exhibition

Patrick Demarchelier and his son, Victor Demarchelier, have collaborated on a captivating photographic exhibition called “Héritage.” This unique exhibition showcases their most exquisite art prints, offering viewers a cross-exhibition experience like no other.

Patrick Demarchelier, a renowned French photographer, has merged his work with that of his son, Victor Demarchelier, who is considered his artistic heir. The exhibition will be open to the public starting from Monday, February 24, coinciding with the beginning of Paris Fashion Week.

According to Patrick Demarchelier, “This exhibition symbolizes the artistic baton-passing between father and son. It allows us to witness the visible or subconscious influence that Patrick has had on Victor’s work. We can see the shared love for light, meticulous attention to crafting beauty, and the relentless pursuit of aesthetics to evoke emotions within us.”

Patrick Demarchelier’s passion for photography began at the age of 17 when he received a camera from his stepfather. Quickly gaining popularity, he attracted notable clients such as Harper’s Bazaar, Condé Nast publications, Elle, and Marie Claire. In 1989, Princess Diana chose him as her personal photographer. Demarchelier went on to create iconic campaigns for famed brands like Acqua Di Gio in 1996 and Chanel’s Allure perfume in 2002. He also contributed to the advertising campaign for the James Bond film, “Die Another Day.” In recognition of his remarkable contributions to the arts, Patrick Demarchelier was appointed a Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters in 2007. The following year, a significant exhibition featuring more than 400 of his prints was showcased at the Petit Palais in Paris.

Victor Demarchelier, who grew up in New York, discovered his passion for photography at the age of 12 with a Polaroid camera. He later pursued studies in art and economics at Vassar College. In 2006, Victor joined his father’s studio and honed his skills in the field of photography under his guidance. However, he insists that he did not feel pressured to become a photographer and reveals, “I believe my father was genuinely pleased when I decided to work for him after completing my studies.” Today, Victor collaborates with esteemed magazines such as Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Interview, and GQ, while also creating captivating advertising campaigns for renowned brands such as Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, Lancôme, and Dior.

The “Héritage” exhibition will take place at A.Galerie, located at 4, rue Léonce Reynaud, Paris 16. It will be open to the public from February 24 to April 11.
