Parisian Fashion Events

Paris is known as the fashion capital of the world, and it is no surprise that the city is constantly buzzing with events that showcase the works of fashion designers, Maisons (fashion houses), and artists. In this article, we will focus on a selection of Parisian events that are currently taking place or are scheduled to take place in the near future.

One of the highly anticipated exhibitions is “Yves Saint Laurent: Transparencies, The Power of Materials,” which will be held at the Musée Yves Saint Laurent Paris from February 9 to August 25, 2024. This exhibition was previously presented at the Cité de la Dentelle et de la Mode in Calais in 2023. It will feature sixty unpublished designs by Yves Saint Laurent, accompanied by archival documents. The exhibition aims to shed light on the designer’s favorite materials, such as lace, organza, chiffon, tulle, and more. Through these materials, visitors will gain insight into Saint Laurent’s unique relationship with the human body and his mastery of the art of suggestion.

Another notable event is the Paolo Roversi retrospective at the Palais Galliera, which will run from March 16 to July 14, 2024. This will be the first French monograph dedicated to the fashion photographer. The exhibition will cover over 50 years of Roversi’s career and will feature around 140 works, including unpublished photographs and archives from his collaborations with renowned fashion designers and publications. Currently, the Palais Galliera is also hosting the exhibition “Azzedine Alaïa: Collector Couturier” until January 21, 2024.

For those interested in exploring the intersection of fashion and art, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs is currently showcasing the exhibition “Iris van Herpen: Sculpting the Senses.” This exhibition celebrates the work of Dutch fashion designer Iris van Herpen and will run until April 28, 2024. It showcases a hundred haute couture creations that blur the boundaries between traditional craftsmanship and cutting-edge technologies, such as 3D printing. Visitors will witness the dialogue between these avant-garde designs and multidisciplinary artworks. Due to its popularity, the exhibition has extended its late-night openings until spring 2024.

If you’re a fan of luxury fashion and craftsmanship, don’t miss the exhibition “La Malle Courrier” at Louis Vuitton’s historic workshops in Asnières. This exhibition, running until February 24, 2024, explores the Maison’s iconic “La Malle Courrier” (trunk) through archival pieces and contemporary creations. Visitors will gain a fresh perspective on this symbol of the industrial revolution and the development of long-distance travel. It’s worth mentioning that Louis Vuitton also has an exhibition space in the center of Paris called LV Dream, which has become a cultural hub since its launch in autumn 2022. It houses not only exhibitions but also the Maison’s chocolate shop and a café.

Lastly, the Galerie Dior is currently hosting an exhibition titled “Art by Women” until May 13, 2024. The exhibition showcases the collaborations between Dior and fifteen female artists, including photographers, illustrators, sculptors, and visual artists. Through this exhibition, visitors will embark on a journey that explores the vision of these multidisciplinary creators regarding women in fashion, culture, and society.
