Paris Fashion Week Celebrates Creativity and Diversity

Paris Fashion Week was a dazzling display of creativity and diversity, with three designers stealing the show: Gabriela Hearst for Chloé, Rick Owens, and Jonny Johansson for Acne Studios. These designers brought their unique visions to the runway, highlighting the vibrant and energetic fashion industry in the city.

Gabriela Hearst’s Chloé collection drew attention with its blend of Latin American and urban aesthetics. The show took place in the darkened Pavilion Vendome, creating an atmosphere that was both naughty and mysterious. Hearst’s collection featured cut-out columns in white and black knits, as well as standout pieces like Gigi Hadid’s silver chain-mail knit party dress. Leather also played a prominent role, with flared rawhide pants and elegant deerskin dresses showcasing Hearst’s talent for working with this material. The collection was completed with accessories like woven sacks and seaside stripe totes, adding the perfect finishing touch. Under Hearst’s direction, Chloé found a new sense of direction and momentum.

Rick Owens once again stunned the audience with a monumental show inspired by Ancient Egypt. Drawing from his childhood fascination with Egypt and the imagery of Theda Bara, the silent-era star of Cleopatra, Owens presented a breathtaking collection named Edfu after a temple on the Nile. Revealing costumes and translucent leather gowns took center stage, creating an ethereal and otherworldly feeling. The catwalk was set over the waters of the Palais de Tokyo’s fountain, elevating the show to another level of grandeur. Owens’ unique and exotic vision was on full display, leaving the audience in awe.

Acne Studios celebrated its 10th anniversary with a gala show that captivated the fashion world. Creative director Jonny Johansson impressed with a collection focused on transparency. Beautiful dresses revealed carefully placed feathers, ribbons, fabric swatches, and even underwear, showcasing the meticulous attention to detail. Gauze and mesh were prominent throughout, juxtaposed with punky spiked bags that resembled weapons rather than totes. Johansson’s witty and savvy humor shone through in the smallest of details, with fabric skin guards attached to high heels and gingham table-cloth looks transformed into giant boyfriend jackets. This stellar collection was a celebration of a decade of great design from Acne Studios.

Overall, Paris Fashion Week was a testament to the energy and creativity of the fashion industry. The shows by Chloé, Rick Owens, and Acne Studios showcased the diverse visions of these talented designers, leaving the audience in awe and eagerly anticipating what the future holds for fashion.
