Pandora, the well-known Danish jewelry company, has taken a pivotal step towards adapting to the digital age by forming a partnership with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) to handle its IT operations. This strategic move is anticipated to bring about a significant reduction in annual IT costs, estimated to be at least DKK 200 million ($29 million). TCS will manage various aspects of Pandora’s IT operations, such as application maintenance, development, and end user services including service desk, store support, and IT security.
Previously, Pandora relied on around 60 different suppliers to manage its IT functions. By consolidating its digital operations under one provider, the company aims to streamline services and enhance cost-efficiency for its customers. Peter Cabello Holmberg, Pandora’s CIO, emphasized the importance of the collaboration with TCS in improving the brand’s digital offerings.
In another strategic move, Pandora has also entered into a cloud solution agreement with Accenture to transition its data, IT infrastructure, and applications from existing data centers to the cloud. These decisions are part of Pandora’s broader efforts to reinvigorate the business.
Alongside the IT transformation, Pandora has initiated a cost-saving program with the goal of cutting total annual costs by DKK 1.2 billion ($176 million) by the end of 2020. The company has also undergone a rebranding campaign and launched new marketing initiatives to revitalize its image in the market.
The transformation at Pandora is also visible in its newly redesigned store concept, which has been unveiled in Birmingham and will gradually be implemented in additional stores worldwide throughout the year. With these strategic endeavors in place, Pandora is setting itself up for sustained success in a competitive industry.
