Pandora Names Peter A. Ruzicka as New Chair of Board of Directors

Pandora, the renowned Danish jewelry company, has recently undergone a significant shift in leadership with the appointment of Peter A. Ruzicka as the new chair of the board of directors, effective January 1, 2020. Bringing with him a wealth of experience in retail management, Ruzicka’s impressive background includes his recent role as president and CEO of Orkla ASA, a prominent Norwegian company. During his time at Orkla, Ruzicka played a crucial role in the company’s transformation into a focused branded consumer goods entity, with a majority of its sales now coming from international markets. Prior to his tenure at Orkla, Ruzicka held key managing director positions in various retail companies across the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and the Baltics.

Having previously served on the board of Orkla and held board positions in other notable companies such as Steen & Strøm ASA and Komplett AS, Ruzicka is well-versed in guiding strategic decisions at the executive level. Currently, he also serves on the board of Jotun A/S, a leading Norwegian chemicals company.

The current chair of the board, Peder Tuborgh, will be stepping down from his role at the end of the year, making way for Ruzicka’s appointment. Tuborgh’s decision to find a successor was announced earlier this year, coinciding with Pandora’s announcement of a major share buyback program aimed at streamlining operations and fulfilling obligations related to employee share option programs. Tuborgh, who has been chairing Pandora’s board since 2014, has overseen key leadership changes within the company, including the appointment of multiple CEOs.

One of the recent CEOs, Alexander Lacik, has been instrumental in orchestrating a brand overhaul strategy at Pandora, aimed at returning the brand to prominence among consumers. Lacik has spearheaded efforts to refresh the company’s product offerings following a period of declining popularity attributed to a lack of innovation and an overly diverse design portfolio.

In conjunction with the leadership transitions, Pandora has bolstered its executive team with strategic appointments, such as Carla Liuni, the former vice president of global marketing and communication at Bulgari, who has joined as the new chief marketing officer. These developments underscore Pandora’s commitment to fortifying its leadership ranks and positioning the brand for sustained success in the fiercely competitive jewelry market.
