Oniverse Expands into Fine Food and Wine Industry with Signorvino

Oniverse, formerly known as Calzedonia Group, has recently made a bold move into the fine food and wine industry with the opening of Signorvino in Paris. Situated in the vibrant Latin Quarter on Place St Michel, Signorvino is a remarkable three-story building that offers a unique fusion of traditional Italian cuisine and an extensive selection of Italian wines to cater to a wide range of tastes and budgets.

Oniverse, led by founder Sandro Veronesi since its inception in 1986 and headquartered in Verona, is a well-regarded fashion and lingerie group with a diverse portfolio of brands including Calzedonia, Intimissimi, Tezenis, and Falconeri, among others. Signorvino is just one of the group’s ventures, which also includes other brands such as Cantiere del Pardo, Grand Soleil, Pardo, and Van Dutch.

With its foray into the food and wine industry, Oniverse has expanded its product offerings to include luxury items, not only focusing on lingerie and fashion but also branching out to encompass cashmere, food, and wine. The establishment of Signorvino Paris, which can accommodate up to 160 guests, comes after the successful opening of Signorvino in Prague in November, highlighting the company’s commitment to expansion and diversification.

The concept of experiential branding is a notable trend in the luxury sector, and Signorvino Paris is upholding this idea. Similar to renowned establishments like Armani Caffè, Gucci Osteria, and Restaurant Monsieur Dior within the flagship store on avenue Montaigne, Signorvino Paris aims to provide customers with a holistic Italian culinary experience.

The menu at Signorvino features a wide variety of classic appetizers, such as Culatello di Zebello or Polpette di Manzo, as well as innovative pasta dishes like spaghetti cacio e pepe with gambero rosso tartare. One of the standout dishes is the Milanese veal chop served with a Gewurztraminer mayonnaise. Complementing the delectable food, the restaurant offers an extensive wine selection, boasting over 2,000 different options. The prices range from approximately €25 for Primitivos to €549 for magnums of the renowned Tuscan red wine, Castelgiocondo.

Federico Veronesi, the head of Signorvino and son of Sandro Veronesi, expressed the restaurant’s mission to take customers on a culinary journey deep into the heart of Italian taste. By maintaining their existing suppliers, Signorvino aims to preserve the authenticity and originality of Italian cuisine, believing that it is crucial to their success in the food and wine industry.

The recent renaming of the group to Oniverse, derived from the word “universe” and an anagram of “Veronesi,” hints at the innovative diversification that lies ahead for the brand. With its expansion into the food and wine industry, Oniverse is making a statement and positioning itself as a leader in experiential luxury retail.
