On the third-to-last day of the fashion extravaganza, brands celebrated bold palettes, nature-inspired motifs, and a nod to strong and independent women.
Drawing inspiration from the works of acclaimed Indian artist Amrita Sher-Gil, Bibhu Mohapatra unveiled a spring/summer 2021 collection bursting with vibrant colors. From dramatic dresses to bold skirts in shades of rose, soft blue, acid green, and lemony yellow, the collection paid homage to Sher-Gil’s fearless spirit and artistic approach towards life.
Meanwhile, Cinq à Sept transported viewers to a whimsical world of nature with their spring 2021 collection. Ruffles, puff sleeves, satiny tops, and sets adorned with floral and animal prints created a sense of freedom and lightness. The brand’s choice of fiery corals and acid yellows evoked a yearning for the great outdoors.
In another part of the world, Maxhosa Africa infused its spring/summer 2021 collection with optimism. Dubbed ‘Ingumangaliso Imisebenzi Kathixo,’ the collection showcased intricate knitwear patterns in bright pinks, yellows, purples, and blues. Against a backdrop of vivid woven tapestries, models exuded positivity and joy, reflecting the brand’s uplifting aesthetic.
Sandy Liang captured the essence of New York City in her spring/summer 2021 collection showcased through a captivating fashion film. Doll prints, oversized parkas, and multi-colored fleece jackets took center stage, embodying the city’s diverse and vibrant atmosphere.
Kim Shui, a beloved designer to A-list celebrities, revealed her spring/summer 2021 collection in a film celebrating the women of New York City. Crop tops, body-con dresses, and sheer blouses in bold colors and prints showcased a more intimate and vulnerable side of strong and independent women, as portrayed by models, muses, and friends of the brand.
Wrapping up the day, CFDA’s NYFW calendar anticipates presentations from Faith Connexion and Christian Siriano.
