Nordstrom Announces Executive Leadership Appointments

Nordstrom, the well-known luxury department store in the United States, has announced a series of executive leadership appointments in its merchandising and store organizations in an effort to improve its performance and strategic execution.

One of the notable promotions is Jamie Nordstrom, who will now serve as the chief merchandising officer. With his previous experience as the chief stores officer, Nordstrom brings a wealth of knowledge to his new role. Throughout his time at the company, he has held leadership positions in various areas including merchandising, store operations, Nordstrom.com, and NordstromRack.com. Nordstrom’s appointment fills the position left vacant by the retirement of Teri Bariquit earlier this year.

Fanya Chandler also joins the leadership team as the president of Nordstrom stores, after having worked for the company for almost 32 years. Chandler has held multiple leadership roles within the organization and most recently served as the senior vice president and regional manager of the company’s Southwest region. In her new position, Chandler will be responsible for overseeing the strategy and execution of Nordstrom’s physical stores.

Additionally, Gemma Lionello has been appointed as the president of Nordstrom Rack, a position that has been newly created. Lionello brings valuable expertise to this role, having held various executive positions including general merchandise manager. With 11 years of experience within Nordstrom Rack, she most recently worked as the senior vice president and regional manager of the company’s Northeast region. In her new role, Lionello will be in charge of leading and overseeing the operations of Nordstrom Rack stores.

All three executives will be part of Nordstrom’s executive team and will report to Pete Nordstrom, the president and chief brand officer of the company. Pete Nordstrom expressed his confidence in the new appointees, stating, “We’re fortunate to have such outstanding leaders in Fanya and Gemma to help us drive our Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack businesses forward, and these changes leverage their immense talent.” He also emphasized Jamie Nordstrom’s extensive experience and leadership roles, highlighting the company’s belief in his ability to lead the merchandising organization into the future.

Nordstrom’s recent trading update on August 24 demonstrated strong performance, surpassing Wall Street’s estimates for net revenue in the quarter. This positive momentum can be attributed to Nordstrom’s successful turnaround at its off-price Rack stores.

With these strategic leadership appointments, Nordstrom is well-positioned to strengthen its position in the luxury retail market and provide exceptional experiences for its customers. The company remains dedicated to driving innovation, adapting to changing consumer preferences, and maintaining its reputation as a leading luxury department store.
