Nona Source: Promoting Responsible Sourcing in Fashion and Luxury

In April of this year, LVMH launched Nona Source, a material resale platform that aims to promote more responsible sourcing within the fashion and luxury industry. Now, the project has found a new home in La Caserne, an address in the 10th arrondissement of Paris. The space, which aspires to be the largest accelerator of ecological transition in Fashion and Luxury in Europe, features a dedicated showroom where surplus stocks purchased from various LVMH houses are displayed.

Nona Source was created by three employees of the group who recognized two common challenges faced by luxury houses and designers. On one hand, luxury houses often struggle with the management of excess raw materials, while on the other hand, emerging and established designers face supply difficulties. The concept initially took the form of an e-commerce site with over 700 references classified by type, composition, weight, use, and properties. The minimum order is not based on the meter, but on the smallest available roll, making it affordable for designers who can find fabrics sold at a fraction of their original price. This approach encourages designers to create based on the available materials, stimulating creativity.

Despite the increasing emphasis on waste reduction within the luxury industry, Nona Source’s business model is expected to remain relevant. According to Romain Brabo, one of the founders of Nona Source, the industry still faces systemic issues with production volumes and minimum orders required by raw material suppliers. However, efforts are being made to address these challenges.

Nona Source is gradually expanding its offering at the European level and plans to integrate other creative resources. In addition, the platform will host its first sale dedicated to students and professors from fashion and design schools on December 9, 10, and 11 at La Caserne.
