Luxury fashion house Nina Ricci has announced the appointment of young Anglo-American designer Harris Reed as its new creative director. The arrival of Reed signifies a new chapter for the couture house, owned by Spanish group Puig.
After eight months of searching, Nina Ricci found a suitable successor to Dutch designers Rushemy Botter and Lisi Herrebrugh, who left the company in January after a three-year tenure. Reed, known for his gender-fluid approach to design, will bring a fresh perspective to the brand. Edwin Bodson, the brand’s CEO, stated that Reed’s unique vision of magnified femininity will extend to Nina Ricci.
Reed expressed his honor and excitement about the appointment on Instagram, stating that as a gender-fluid designer, joining a Parisian brand he had dreamt of is a childhood dream come true. At the age of 26, Reed, a Central Saint Martins graduate and founder of his own brand, becomes the youngest designer to lead Nina Ricci in its 90-year history. His first collection for the fashion house is set to debut in early 2023.
