New York Fashion Week Designers Announced

New York Fashion Week has released the list of designers participating in its September event, featuring a total of 71 confirmed participants and five newcomers to the calendar. The upcoming season, taking place from September 8 to September 13, will mark the return of fashion icon Ralph Lauren, after being absent for the past three seasons. Other notable designers making a comeback include Jonathan Cohen and 3.1 Phillip Lim. The week will kick off with the highly anticipated debut of Peter Do at Helmut Lang at 2pm on Friday.

While the absence of prominent American designers such as Marc Jacobs, Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein, and The Row may be felt during this runway season, the lineup is still impressive. Renowned brands like Altuzarra, Anna Sui, Carolina Herrera, and Michael Kors will be returning to showcase their latest collections. CFDA CEO Steven Kolb expressed excitement about the return of these designers and their contribution to the energy of the week.

In addition to the 71 confirmed designers on the schedule, there will be additional collections presented digitally and by appointment. Five designers will be making their catwalk debut on the official calendar: Advisry, Chan Chit Lo, FFORME, Grace Ling, and Sho Konishi. These designers bring a fresh perspective to the fashion industry with their unique styles and concepts. For example, Advisry caught editors’ attention last September with its cerebral street style and screen-printed T-shirts inspired by Jean Luc Godard’s classic film “Masculin Feminin.” Chan Chit Lo specializes in conceptual and poetic menswear knitwear, while FFORME is known for its architectural shapes and silhouettes. Grace Ling emphasizes humor and surrealism in her designs, and Sho Konishi is recognized as an avant-garde designer.

Additionally, the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalists will also be showcasing their collections during New York Fashion Week. These talented designers, including Colin LoCascio, Diotima, Kim Shui, and Kozaburo, bring their unique perspectives and creativity to the event.

The New York Fashion Week shows will take place across Manhattan and increasingly in Brooklyn. Spring Studios will serve as the central hub for IMG’s NYFW: The Shows. The preliminary official schedule is in partnership with IMG’s NYFW: The Shows and will continue to be presented via Runway360, CFDA’s centralized digital hub.

The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) is a not-for-profit trade association that was established in 1962. It represents 458 members, including top designers in America specializing in womenswear, menswear, jewelry, eyewear, and accessories. CFDA CEO Steven Kolb emphasized that New York Fashion Week is an integral part of the city’s culture, providing a platform for constant evolution and discovery.
