New Wave Creatives 2020 Unveiled by British Fashion Council

The British Fashion Council has officially unveiled the highly-anticipated ‘New Wave Creatives 2020’ list, which spotlights 50 of the brightest young talents in the fashion industry. This annual list celebrates emerging creatives across a wide range of disciplines, including artists, activists, stylists, image makers, and more.

Initially launched in 2018, New Wave Creatives has become an integral part of the prestigious Fashion Awards organized by the BFC. This year marks the first time that the awards will be presented digitally, with the list of creatives being reduced to 50 to allow for more focused support and engagement.

Among the talented individuals featured on this year’s list are renowned creative directors like Betsy Johnson, Louis Burguet, and Yasser Abubeker, as well as standout stylists Flora Huddart, Marie Higuchi, and Ola Ebiti. Additionally, image makers Carlijn Jacobs, Quil Lemons, and Huang Jiaqi are also included in the lineup.

The virtual awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on December 3rd, with the winners being announced during The #FashionAwards 2020 film premiere on FashionAwards.com. Caroline Rush, the CEO of the BFC, underscored the significance of continuing to support emerging talent, especially given the challenges that creatives have faced this year.

Rush stated, “The past year has been incredibly tough for our creative community and freelancers. Many have struggled with reduced incomes, cancelled contracts, and a lack of government assistance, particularly in the UK.” Despite these obstacles, the BFC remains dedicated to championing and nurturing young talent through initiatives like New Wave Creatives.
