Nensi Dojaka’s Collaboration with Alessandro Dell’Acqua and N°21

Nensi Dojaka, the recipient of the highly esteemed LVMH Prize for 2021, has joined forces with Alessandro Dell’Acqua, the creative director of N°21, to create a captivating capsule collection. This collaboration is particularly noteworthy as it brings together two immensely talented young designers. In a press release, Dell’Acqua expressed his excitement about the opportunity to have Dojaka and Alfredo Cortese, the founder of the AC9 label, reimagine the essence of N°21. This collaboration comes on the heels of N°21’s alliance with Tomorrow London for a mentorship program aimed at fostering emerging designers.

Dojaka and Cortese were carefully selected for this collaboration in September 2020 and have since received unwavering support and guidance from both N°21 and Tomorrow London. The mentorship program focused on crucial aspects such as commercial planning, production development, marketing, and distribution. The culmination of their hard work and dedication is the creation of two exquisite mini-collections for the Spring/Summer 2022 season. Dojaka’s contribution to the collection encompasses eight alluring black ensembles, while Cortese has crafted stunning flesh-colored knitwear.

The collaboration between Dojaka and Dell’Acqua is not surprising considering their shared aesthetic sensibilities. Both designers are renowned for their sensual and feminine designs. Dojaka’s creations feature figure-hugging dresses, form-fitting petticoats, asymmetrical patterns, and deconstructed silhouettes. Her designs are characterized by sheer detailing, strategically placed slits, and playful ribbons. Dojaka cites Dell’Acqua as a significant source of inspiration, along with esteemed designers such as Helmut Lang and Ann Demeulemeester.

Dojaka’s journey as a designer has been nothing short of remarkable. After completing her studies at the London College of Fashion, she boldly launched her high-end women’s ready-to-wear label in 2017. Despite early success, she embarked on furthering her education at Central Saint Martins. Today, her designs grace the shelves of approximately 30 prominent retailers, including revered names like Mytheresa and MatchesFashion. Her exquisite creations have been adorned by esteemed celebrities such as Bella Hadid, Emily Ratajkowski, and Adwoa Aboah. In fact, one of her dresses even secured a spot on Lyst’s esteemed top-10 ranking of the most popular womenswear items in Q1 2021.

As her career continues to thrive, Dojaka is set to make her inaugural in-person show debut at London Fashion Week on September 17. Armed with the €300,000 prize money she obtained for winning the LVMH Prize, alongside a year-long mentorship within the luxury group, Dojaka is poised to elevate her career and showcase her unrivaled talent.
