Neiman Marcus Group Appoints Hannah Kim as Chief Legal Officer, Corporate Secretary, and Chief Compliance Officer

Neiman Marcus Group (NMG), the renowned department store operator based in Dallas, Texas, has made an exciting addition to its leadership team with the appointment of Hannah Kim as its new chief legal officer, corporate secretary, and chief compliance officer, effective from July 26, 2021. In her new role, Kim will take charge of overseeing all legal and compliance matters at NMG, playing a crucial role in safeguarding the retailer’s overall business strategy. She will also join the company’s esteemed executive team.

Hannah Kim brings with her an impressive wealth of experience in guiding organizations through critical compliance processes, acquisitions, reorganizations, and leadership transitions. Notably, she has also worked extensively in the dynamic field of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategy, which perfectly aligns with NMG’s own interests, as the company gears up to announce its comprehensive three-year ESG strategy later this year.

Prior to joining NMG, Kim served as the chief legal officer at Energizer Holdings, Inc. for three years. In this role, she held responsibilities relating to legal affairs, compliance, ethics, regulatory matters, and government affairs. Before her time at Energizer Holdings, Inc., Kim held senior positions at Bank of America and Lowe’s Companies, Inc. She laid the foundation of her legal career at Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein and Alston & Bird. Her commitment to excellence is further reflected in her membership with the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity. Kim holds a bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctor from the esteemed University of Tennessee.

NMG CEO Geoffroy van Raemdonck expressed his enthusiasm for Kim’s appointment, emphasizing her status as a trusted and valued legal partner, known for her ability to devise innovative solutions for consumer-focused companies. He firmly believes that Kim’s extensive experience in corporate law, gained from leading brands, will accelerate NMG’s journey as it focuses on executing its integrated luxury retail strategy.

This appointment is in line with NMG’s ongoing strategic hiring initiatives, as the company actively seeks to rebound from its Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing in September 2020. In recent months, NMG has made significant appointments, including Bob Kupbens as EVP and chief product and technology officer. Additionally, new leaders have been appointed for the flagship Neiman Marcus brand, with Paolo Riva assuming the role of SVP and general manager for brand partnerships and merchandising, and Lisa Aiken being named SVP and fashion and lifestyle director for the department store chain in June.
