Mulberry Launches Carbon-Neutral Collection

Mulberry, the renowned British luxury brand, has recently made a significant stride towards sustainability with the launch of its first-ever carbon-neutral collection, known as “MulberryLily Zero.” This eco-friendly collection comprises 12 styles from the brand’s beloved Lily bag family and ensures that these bags are entirely carbon-neutral from their production to their sale.

The Lily line has been an iconic part of Mulberry’s offerings since 2010, making it the perfect choice for the brand to introduce its carbon-neutral initiative. These bags are described as versatile “soft and supple day-to-evening chain bags” and are available in various sizes and styles, including the original design and the Top Handle version. All bags within the collection feature Mulberry’s distinctive Postman’s Lock hardware.

The MulberryLily Zero range is produced in the brand’s Somerset factories, using carbon-neutral leather sourced from a reputable tannery in Germany. This particular tannery has implemented measures to carefully measure, reduce, and offset its carbon emissions, ensuring that the leather used by Mulberry adheres to strict sustainability standards. The carbon-neutral leather is also utilized in Mulberry’s Heavy Grain styles, which contribute a noteworthy 26% to the brand’s AW22 collection. Mulberry has nurtured a longstanding partnership with this tannery for over 10 years and has recently conducted a comprehensive Life Cycle Assessment to thoroughly analyze the collection’s carbon emissions, encompassing all aspects from components to transportation and packaging. To further offset any remaining emissions, Mulberry has joined forces with the World Land Trust, its trusted carbon offsetting partner.

In order to promote the Lily Zero collection, Mulberry has launched an enticing new campaign that embodies an ethereal and futuristic aesthetic. Accompanying this campaign is an Instagram AR filter that allows users to immerse themselves in a surreal environment and virtually try on the striking new Lily bags.

Mulberry’s commitment to sustainability extends well beyond the introduction of this carbon-neutral collection. The brand has set a commendable goal of achieving net zero by 2035 and is taking several steps to attain it. By prioritizing sustainability across its entire supply chain and product range, Mulberry is at the forefront of paving the way for a more environmentally conscious fashion industry.

In response to the increasing awareness among consumers regarding the environmental impacts of their purchasing decisions, brands like Mulberry are emerging with innovative and sustainable solutions. The MulberryLily Zero collection aptly reflects the growing demand for fashion that not only exudes style and elegance but also actively contributes to the well-being of the planet. With its carbon-neutral approach, Mulberry exemplifies how luxury and sustainability can seamlessly coexist.
