Mulberry Group Announces Departure of Non-Executive Chairman

Mulberry Group, the renowned luxury bag specialist, has announced the departure of its non-executive chairman, Godfrey Davis, from the board on September 30th. Davis, who has been with the company for an impressive 35 years, initially joined as its finance director before ascending to the position of chief executive. Ultimately, Davis took on the role of chairman, bringing his wealth of experience and expertise to the brand.

In recognition of Davis’s exceptional contributions, the directors expressed their gratitude for his invaluable service to the group. While his departure marks a significant milestone for Mulberry, the company has already identified a successor. Chris Roberts, who currently serves as a non-executive director, will step into the role of chairman as Davis exits. Roberts is well-connected to the majority owners of the company and brings a wealth of experience, making him an ideal candidate for the position. Additionally, he holds the distinction of being a Fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants and joined the board in June. As the managing director of Como Holdings (UK) Ltd., which is owned by Ong Beng Seng and Christina Ong – the ultimate owners of Chalice Limited, a major shareholder in Mulberry – Roberts is well-positioned to steer the brand forward.

Looking back on his remarkable tenure at Mulberry, Davis expressed his privilege in chairing the iconic British luxury brand. He commended the company’s unwavering commitment to innovation and its impressive success in captivating a global consumer base that appreciates sustainable, quality craftsmanship. Davis also took the opportunity to extend his appreciation to his colleagues and the entire Mulberry team for their unwavering support throughout the years. It is worth noting that the company remains in a strong financial position as it navigates this leadership transition.
