Mr Porter and Celine Homme Collaborate on ‘The Dancing Kid’ Collection

Mr Porter, the popular online commerce website, has partnered with fashion house Celine to release a new collection inspired by e-boys. This unique collaboration, named “The Dancing Kid,” encompasses 48 pieces that pay homage to the new generation and its distinctive style. With a focus on targeting Generation Y and Z, Mr Porter and Celine Homme have followed in the footsteps of renowned brands like Tom Ford and Off-White to create a collection that draws inspiration from the e-boys phenomenon.

E-boys, a subculture that originated around a decade ago and gained prominence through social media platforms, particularly TikTok, combines influences from emo and manga with elements of street and skate culture. It is no surprise that Celine’s artistic director, Hedi Slimane, has chosen to explore this theme, as he has exhibited a keen interest in the movements and trends of Generation Z and Y.

This capsule collection includes essential wardrobe pieces with a contemporary twist and vintage accents, all while prioritizing comfort. Some key items featured in the collection are jacquard sweaters, leopard print jogging pants, studded or acid-washed jeans, Hawaiian shirts, silver windbreakers, and sporty bombers. These versatile clothes can be worn both indoors and outdoors, highlighting their functionality and relevance in today’s world.

To create the advertising campaign for this collaboration, Hedi Slimane enlisted the help of six talented artists: Tyson Reeder, Jesse Harris, Gregory Edwards, Ryan Ford, Amy Sillman, and Turpentine. Celine has been revealing a series of images, personally captured by Hedi Slimane himself, on its social media platforms to showcase the collection’s aesthetics. On the other hand, Mr Porter has chosen skater Keith Hardy to model the collection in their photographs.

Out of the 48-piece capsule collection, which serves as an extension of Celine Homme’s Spring-Summer 2021 collection, 30 pieces will be exclusively available on Mr Porter. Additionally, five of these pieces will have dedicated windows on the website until the end of the year, providing excellent visibility and exposure for Celine, especially among the notoriously challenging male clientele.

The Dancing Kid collection by Mr Porter and Celine Homme is a fusion of modern and vintage styles, capturing the essence of e-boys and their significant influence on fashion trends. With the collaboration’s strategic marketing efforts and exclusive availability on Mr Porter, Celine is poised to capture the attention of the younger audience and make a lasting impact in the industry.
