Mouna Ayoub’s Extraordinary 30-Hour Auction in Paris

Mouna Ayoub, the renowned Lebanese businesswoman, recently hosted an extraordinary 30-hour auction in Paris, showcasing over 3,000 items from her personal collection to fashion enthusiasts. This event marked her decision to part with a significant portion of her wardrobe, which included numerous pieces crafted by top designers. The auction provided a rare glimpse into the world of fashion and haute couture, as these exceptional pieces were considered true works of art.

The auction, which took place at the Hôtel des Ventes de la Maison Cornette de Saint Cyr in Paris, lasted for six days. Displaying items from iconic brands like Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Azzedine Alaïa, Gucci, and Dior, the event became a remarkable gathering of renowned fashion labels. Hubert Felbacq, the head of the Luxury & Vintage division at Cornette de Saint Cyr, emphasized that around 90% of the pieces were in pristine condition, with only 10% having been worn. Additionally, these pieces were created between 1985 and 2011, further enhancing their allure and historical significance.

Apart from captivating fashion enthusiasts, Mouna Ayoub’s auction drew attention for its impressive duration of 30 hours. During this time, potential buyers fiercely competed, surpassing experts’ estimations with their higher bids. Notable sales included an Hermès Birkin bag made of Nile crocodile leather, which was sold for a staggering €43,000, and a Chanel white tweed ensemble that fetched €9,016. With these remarkable sales and many others, the auction managed to raise a total of €1,125,556.

Mouna Ayoub’s generous philanthropy was also evident in the distribution of the auction’s proceeds. The substantial sum raised will be donated to various organizations, including the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris for their upcoming exhibition “Déboutonnez la mode” (Unbutton Fashion) from February 10th to July 15th. Additionally, contributions will be made to the Cinéfondation created by Gilles Jacob and the charity association “A chacun son Everest” (Each to Their Everest).
