Moncler Geniuses Moves Event to China in 2021

Moncler Geniuses is embarking on a groundbreaking new chapter by relocating its annual event to China in 2021. This significant move marks the first time the luxury brand will host its multi-designer project outside of Europe. Initially introduced in 2018, Moncler Geniuses wowed fashion enthusiasts with an impressive lineup of innovative puffer jackets, coats, and dresses created by renowned designers such as Pierpaolo Piccioli, Simone Rocha, and Craig Green. The launch event, held in Milan, dazzled attendees with a series of 10 shows presented in beautifully staged tableaux vivants.

The most recent edition of Moncler Geniuses in February 2020 showcased the talents of designers like Rick Owens, Jonathan Anderson, and Rimowa in a striking presentation at a disused factory in Milan. The brand had previously unveiled its Moncler Gamme Bleu and Rouge lines during fashion weeks, but these were discontinued following the launch of Moncler Geniuses. Now, as Moncler takes its show to China, the project has been rebranded as ‘Moncler Geniuses 2021, One House, Different Voices to All’, promising a fresh format and schedule for the event.

Shifting the presentation from February to September, Moncler Geniuses will utilize digital broadcasting to showcase events from China across various time zones while still reserving a spot on the Milan Fashion Week calendar. With roots tracing back to its origins as a ski jacket business in France in 1952, Moncler is now headquartered in Milan under the ownership of Remo Ruffini. The brand’s CEO has expressed the intention to utilize this move to the East and adopt a digital broadcasting approach to engage directly with a global audience of customers.

In an era where sustainability is at the forefront, Moncler is doubling down on its commitment to eco-friendly practices with the Moncler Born to Protect initiative. The forthcoming Genius collections will feature sustainable designs catered to diverse client demographics and personalities. While the specific designers set to participate in the upcoming event remain undisclosed, Moncler is steadfast in its dedication to promoting sustainability and customer engagement through this monumental shift to China.
