Moda Operandi Announces Marc Rofsky as Director of Buying for Ready-to-Wear Division

Moda Operandi, the renowned luxury fashion brand headquartered in New York, has recently announced the appointment of Marc Rofsky as the new director of buying for the ready-to-wear (RTW) division. Rofsky is set to assume his role on July 11, where he will oversee Moda Operandi’s extensive RTW portfolio, which includes various categories such as designer, evening, contemporary, resortwear, denim, and ski. He will be responsible for both the in-season (boutique) and next season (trunkshow) business lines, managing the merchandising strategy, portfolio management, new brand acquisition, and the development of exclusive capsules. Additionally, Rofsky will lead “special projects” within the RTW division.

Since joining Moda Operandi in 2021 as the senior buyer of designer RTW, Rofsky has already made significant contributions to the company, resulting in double-digit growth in the category. Prior to his tenure with Moda Operandi, Rofsky held notable positions such as director of wholesale for Valentino and senior buyer of designer RTW at Barneys New York.

April Hennig, the chief merchandising officer of Moda Operandi, have expressed utmost confidence in Rofsky, highlighting his exceptional merchant skills, innate passion for products, and strong business acumen. Hennig emphasized that Rofsky’s extensive experience in luxury retail and sharp fashion sense will be instrumental in driving the apparel strategy of Moda Operandi forward.

This appointment comes in the wake of the departure of Lisa Ruffle, the former director of buying for RTW, and the subsequent hiring of Tiernan Cowling from Kirna Zabete as Rofsky’s successor in the senior buyer role for designer RTW.

These changes within Moda Operandi’s fashion division coincide with the company’s recent expansion into the beauty industry. Two months ago, Moda Operandi appointed Jessica Matlin as its first-ever beauty chief. These strategic moves reflect Moda Operandi’s commitment to continuously evolve and meet the evolving demands of its discerning customers.
