Miu Miu Unveils Winter Collection in Alpine Setting

Miu Miu, an esteemed Italian brand, recently unveiled its latest collection in a unique and breathtaking setting. Instead of showcasing its designs during Paris Fashion Week, as it usually does, Miu Miu opted for a different approach this season due to the ongoing pandemic. The brand organized an audience-free event, choosing the stunning backdrop of the Alps in Cortina d’Ampezzo to reveal its winter collection.

The collection itself revolved around the theme of winter snow, with Miuccia Prada, the creative mind behind Miu Miu, presenting a range of striking pieces. The models, adorned in crocheted masks, knit ski helmets, thick beanies, and vibrant pink or mustard-colored wooly granny tights, showcased the winter-inspired designs on the slopes of the resort. The highlight of the collection was the silvery blue puffer pantsuits and bold graphic stripes knit wool-covered puffers, adding a touch of modernity to the snowy aesthetic. Completing the ensemble were shaggy moon boots in Yeti white with raccoon stripes and grizzly-bear brown.

Miuccia Prada’s vision for this collection centered around creating a group of “Alpine Amazons” who exuded allure and a hip aesthetic. She added a glamorous touch to the mountain-inspired looks with oversized matelassé après-ski jumpsuits in beige and anoraks embellished with strass and crystals. Surprisingly, padded pastel nylon swimsuits and thick mohair mini cocktail dresses were also featured, adding an unexpected twist to the collection.

Titled ‘Brave Hearts,’ the show depicted the members of a mythical Miu Miu Mountain Club. The models paraded in crocheted picnic dresses, while crows flew overhead, and a pair of wolves seemed to follow their every move. The cinematography beautifully captured the models positioned on a mound, highlighted by the majestic Dolomites in the background.

Considering the current state of the world and the closure of ski lifts in various parts of Europe due to the pandemic, the show video evoked a sense of nostalgia and longing for the mountains. It emphasized the yearning of countless individuals to engage in winter sports and enjoy the high altitudes, while simultaneously contrasting it with the cabin fever induced by Covid-19.

As night fell, the collection took on a more seductive tone, showcasing the epitome of the Miu Miu woman. Combining the devil-may-care attitude of Parisian style with Italian pizzazz, she flaunted crystal-embroidered cashmere cocktails as she circled around a blazing bonfire. This symbolic representation of the fire of fashion and the creative genius of Miuccia Prada added a captivating touch to the collection.

This collection marks a significant milestone for Miuccia Prada and Miu Miu, as it presents one of the brand’s most diverse offerings in its 38-year history. It demonstrates Miuccia Prada’s consistent ability to set a fashion agenda that will undoubtedly be followed by millions around the world.
