The Missoni brand, known for its vibrant and colorful prints, has teamed up with sportswear giant Adidas to create an exclusive collection. This collaboration pays homage to Ottavio Missoni, the co-founder of the renowned luxury Italian fashion house.
Adidas has a long history of collaborating with various designers and artists, including big names like Alexander Wang, Jeremy Scott, BAPE, Raf Simons, Stella McCartney, Kanye West, and most recently Beyonce. With this latest partnership, Adidas and Missoni have combined their talents to produce a range of pieces that merge Adidas’ technical expertise with Missoni’s signature craftsmanship.
Missoni has applied its patented “Space Dyeing” technique to dye the polyester knit fabric of the unisex Ultraboost CLIMA running shoe, which comes in white, black, and multicolor options. This collaboration places an emphasis on performance footwear rather than casual sneakers, a choice that aligns with Ottavio Missoni’s athletic background as a hurdler in the 1948 Olympics. Just five years later, he founded his own fashion house, which also had the honor of designing the official uniform for the Italian national team.
In addition to the running shoes, this capsule collection also includes a variety of running apparel such as shorts, t-shirts, and sweatshirts for both men and women. Launched on April 24th, this limited edition collaboration showcases the growing interest among consumers in partnerships between luxury brands and streetwear. According to a recent study conducted by the Boston Consulting Group, this trend is predicted to be a key driver of growth for the luxury industry in the years ahead.
