Milan Fashion Week Men’s: A Preview of Exciting Collections and Diverse Representation

Milan Fashion Week Men’s is gearing up for its upcoming edition, set to take place from June 18 to June 22. Unlike the previous digital-only format in January, this summer session aims to bring back a sense of normalcy with physical presentations, cocktail receptions, and even real runway shows. This shift towards in-person events signals a positive step forward for the fashion industry as it emerges from the challenges of the past year.

The event will showcase a total of 47 brands, an increase from the 39 that participated in January. While big-name designers like Dolce & Gabbana, Etro, and Giorgio Armani will be presenting their collections, the focus this time will largely be on young Italian talent and emerging international brands that are not widely known to the general public. This emphasis on showcasing rising stars in the industry brings a fresh and exciting energy to Milan Fashion Week Men’s.

One of the most highly anticipated collections is from Glenn Martens, who has designed his first collection for Diesel. Martens, known as the creative director of Y/Project, has created a gender-inclusive collection for the iconic jeans brand. This debut collection is sure to make a splash and captivate fashion enthusiasts. Another noteworthy debut is Andrea Pompilio’s collection for Harmont & Blaine, a Neapolitan brand. Pompilio has been presenting his menswear line, APN73, in Milan since last season, and now he brings his creativity to Harmont & Blaine.

The event will also feature designers from various corners of the globe, further adding to its diversity and inclusivity. Two Spanish designers from the Istituto Europeo de Design de Madrid, Tíscar Espadas and Jaime Alvarez, will showcase their unique aesthetics. Additionally, two African brands, Franc Elis from South Africa and Paul Roger Tanonkou from Cameroon, will bring their distinct styles to the runway. Franc Elis specializes in shirting and chic cutting, while Tanonkou’s label, Zenam, combines African traditions with Western couture. The inclusion of these designers highlights the global nature of the fashion industry and the importance of diverse representation.

In addition to virtual presentations, many of these designers have also arranged physical shows in Milan. This hybrid approach allows both industry professionals and the general public to experience the excitement and artistry of fashion in person. The event will also feature several special events, including an opening cocktail reception hosted by the Camera della Moda Italiana, held in the beautiful gardens of a grand palace. Portugal Fashion Week will also hold a reception to celebrate its 25th anniversary, showcasing video presentations from David Catalan and Miguel Vieira. These events create opportunities for networking, collaboration, and celebration within the fashion community.

Milan Fashion Week Men’s promises to be an exciting and diverse event, bringing together established designers, emerging talents, and brand debuts. As the fashion industry gradually returns to in-person shows and events, this phygital edition of Milan Fashion Week Men’s sets the stage for a new chapter in menswear fashion. It showcases the resilience and creativity of designers from around the world, offering a glimpse into the future of the industry.
