Milan Fashion Week Men wrapped up with a bang as designers showcased their exceptional and high-quality collections. Among the standouts were Giorgio Armani, JW Anderson, and Dhruv Kapoor, who all brought a fresh perspective to menswear by incorporating elements of sportswear and formal wear.
Giorgio Armani stunned the audience with his visually captivating show. An enormous eye peered through a spyglass at one end of the runway, setting the tone for the collection. While there were a few standout pieces embellished with embroidery and sequins, the collection mainly focused on understated tailored looks. Unique details like elongating shirts into short pleated skirts and oversized shoulders on sport jackets added a sporty touch. Kapoor’s collaboration with Nike was also a highlight, as he incorporated special looks made from Nike’s dormant stock. Although Kapoor gained visibility after his Milanese debut, his label is still striving for success in Europe.
JW Anderson took a daring approach by exploring the concept of masculinity in his collection. Models confidently strutted down the runway in sensual sheer black tights paired with socks or trouserless ensembles featuring culotte-shorts and cardigan-jackets. The collection exuded sensuality and intimacy, drawing inspiration from Stanley Kubrick’s film “Eyes Wide Shut.” Prints of Christiane Kubrick’s paintings added a unique graphic element to the designs. JW Anderson also showcased women’s silhouettes, with skintight dresses and red velvet pumps making an appearance. The show concluded with a special invitation for guests to watch a short film on Christiane Kubrick at Milan’s smallest movie theater, adding an extra layer of intrigue and storytelling.
