Milan Fashion Week Celebrates Emerging Designers

Milan Fashion Week is once again demonstrating its unwavering support for emerging designers, paving the way for a new generation of talent in the fashion industry. Scheduled to kick off on February 19 and run until February 25, the event will shine a spotlight on up-and-coming designers through a series of initiatives and events.

Carlo Capasa, the President of the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana (CNMI), has emphasized the organization’s commitment to nurturing new talent by featuring a diverse lineup of emerging designers on the fashion week calendar. CNMI Fashion Trust, a non-profit organization launched by CNMI last year, has played a pivotal role in this endeavor by offering mentorship programs and financial support to promising Italian designers.

Among the designers benefitting from CNMI Fashion Trust’s assistance is Act n°1, founded by Luca Lin and Galib Gassanoff, recipients of the Who is on Next? 2017 design award. Additionally, emerging talents like Marco Rambaldi and the Marios label will have the opportunity to showcase their creations on the runway with the backing of CNMI. The organization is also championing brands such as Chika Kisada and Ultràchic, as well as environmentally-conscious designers like Gilberto Calzolari and Tiziano Guardini.

In addition to shining a spotlight on established emerging designers, Milan Fashion Week will also provide a platform for newcomers through the Fashion Hub. Running from February 20-24 and open to the public, the Fashion Hub will feature a lineup of shows, conferences, and the Fashion Hub Market, where emerging labels can exhibit their collections. This season, 12 aspiring designers will be featured, giving buyers and fashion enthusiasts alike the chance to discover and support fresh talent.

The Fashion Hub at this year’s event will also showcase creativity from China and Hungary, as well as the winners of the Woolmark Prize 2018-19. Moreover, in collaboration with the Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency, Milan Fashion Week will highlight eight Hungarian labels and feature designs from seven emerging Asian designers as part of the Xi’An International Fashion Town project.

As the Fashion Hub wraps up its activities, an award ceremony will be held to commend standout talent within the emerging designer community. Milan Fashion Week remains at the forefront of championing the future of fashion by providing a platform for young creatives to present their work and leave a lasting impact on the industry.
