McDonald’s Responds to Alexander Wang’s Satin Lunch Bag Clutch

Fast food giant McDonald’s has once again entered the world of fashion with its response to designer Alexander Wang’s latest creation. McDonald’s has previously engaged in playful fashion collaborations, such as creating buzz with an image featuring a man wearing cardboard French fry cones as a nod to Balenciaga’s red square-toed shoes.

Balenciaga’s Artistic Director, Demna Gvasalia, even staged a fashion show at a McDonald’s restaurant on the Champs-Elysées. Now, McDonald’s has teamed up with Alexander Wang, offering a response to Wang’s new creation, the “Satin Lunch Bag Clutch.” The light brown clutch, priced at €340, resembles a typical take-away paper bag.

McDonald’s quickly drew parallels between the clutch and its own packaging, posting an image of its packaging on their Saudi Arabian Instagram account and claiming, “We did it first.” The post directly challenged Wang, stating, “@alexanderwangny, it’s what’s inside that counts.”

It is interesting to note that Alexander Wang, in addition to his own brand, was previously the Artistic Director of Balenciaga. The “Satin Lunch Bag Clutch” has already sold out, a testament to Wang’s popularity and the success of McDonald’s playful fashion collaborations.
