Matchesfashion Welcomes New Director of Technology and Customer Experience

Matchesfashion, the luxury fashion e-tailer, has recently welcomed Christopher Hart as its new Director of Technology and Customer Experience. This announcement comes shortly after the appointment of John Mooney as the company’s Creative Director. Both Hart and Mooney were previously executives at ASOS, a prominent online fashion retailer.

Hart, who had previously served as the Head of Technology – Web at ASOS for over four years, expressed his enthusiasm for his new role at Matchesfashion on LinkedIn. Before joining ASOS, Hart gained valuable experience working in Tesco’s tech team for almost five years.

Matchesfashion has been actively assembling a new leadership team in order to facilitate the company’s turnaround under the guidance of CEO Nick Beighton, who formerly held the same position at ASOS. Apax Partners, the private equity firm that owns Matchesfashion, recently invested £60 million into the business to support its transformative efforts.

In its most recent financial report, Matchesfashion revealed some fluctuations in global demand. The company’s revenue for the year ending in January 2022 amounted to £386.6 million, slightly lower than the previous year’s figure of £390.9 million. However, the adjusted EBITDA showcased a wider loss of £23.8 million as compared to £17.2 million in the previous year.

Matchesfashion is now focused on bolstering its team with top industry talent to drive innovation and enhance the overall customer experience. The recruitment of Christopher Hart and John Mooney from ASOS highlights the company’s dedication to forming a team with a profound comprehension of the online fashion retail industry.

Backed by Apax Partners’ support and the expertise of its recently appointed executives, Matchesfashion is positioned to overcome challenges and reestablish itself as a prominent player in the luxury fashion e-commerce market. The company’s investments in technology and customer experience are vital for capturing a larger market share and driving growth in an increasingly competitive landscape.
